September 2017 Update

It’s been almost a year now since, what I thought would be a routine mammogram and ultrasound, turned my world upside down!  On October 31, 2017, we will remember all of the fantastic medical team members at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Center who not only gave me information to help me make a decision about treatment options, but gave care that was over-the-top with kindness and compassion.

I have been so humbled by being asked to participate in a video for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  I was totally in a different place last year, and did not realize that October IS Breast Cancer Awareness Month! The scar that is left behind on the right side continues to heal ~ My heart is truly in a good place now with wanting to remind everyone to GET YOUR MAMMOGRAM!  Don’t put it off because you are afraid someone might find something “wrong”.   Early detection is the key to having a positive outcome!

I find I am more open now to sharing my story with folks who need to hear it.  I praise God for walking with me and Gary on this remarkable journey.  We continue to provide opportunities for donations to MiMi’s Family Fund, our endowment at the Comprehensive Cancer Center to assist family members of cancer patients with the simple things that will make their experiences just a little bit easier.
